Joined up Thinking and my photograph

I went to Green Park earlier this year with my camera, flashgun and reflector with a Cornishman Stevyn Colgan. He asked if I would take a photograph of him for a book that he was publishing, called Joined up Thinking. It is a book about how everything is connected to everything. I must recommend the book to you as it is one of those books you start but cannot put down. My photograph in the rear of the book is not bad either!

The book is widely available and will make an excellent stocking filler.

Wedding on 25th October 2008

Well, here goes! I was commissioned to take photographs at a Wedding in Lympne Castle, Kent. I did some research and a friend checked out the venue before attending to establish the best places to take photographs etc. Once research was complete I was set for the day, or so I thought. I picked up a colleague and we made our way to the Castle, arriving earlier than I had planned. Always better to be early than late, Brides and Grooms don't like it when you are late.

I got my equipment out of the car and walked towards the main gates to the castle, where I was to meet the Groom and best man. I could see a large 52 seat coach arrive and pull up next to the gates and people started to get off it. The first lady had a yellow cotton type full length dress on, which I thought was strange for a Wedding. More people started get off the coach and they were dressed as Medieval farmers etc. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I recall being told that a large bus would be dropping off guests but not that they would be dressed in Medieval clothing, including peasants and Kings and Queens. It was an amazing, but very pleasant sight. I walked to the main gate and met the King, who was dressed with a metal crown and well dressed in period costume. His Best Man was also dressed appropriately.

I then spoke to him and said "You didn't tell me this bit" and laughed with him. He laughed and we got on with my work. There was also a genuine 'Jester' who was very good, playing games and showing tricks to everyone present.

It was a really pleasant wedding to photograph, once I got over the shock. All guests were very friendly and cooperative and the resulting photographs were really good (in my opinion) see if you agree.
